• DAY 1: Is there anything better than a paradisiacal beach that is perhaps more popular among the Caretta Carettas than among tourists even in full season? Swipe your finger on the map and stop it near the southeast tip of the island, just above Mounda beach. This long stretch of coast is perfect for turtles, which thanks to the soft sand and the shallow and gently sloping seabed can easily reach the perfect place to lay their eggs. The beach, in its almost 3 km, is divided into two parts, Kaminia (equipped with sun beds and umbrellas) and Potamakia (free and wild). After a morning on the beach we suggest you visit the nearby village of Katelios, small and characteristic, for a lunch in a tavern and then continue to Skala, a tourist resort with a long, well-equipped beach, shops and clubs.
• DAY 2: famous for its blue waters full of fish and the dense vegetation that surrounds it, the beach of Antisamos is a true icon of the island. In addition to having well-equipped establishments, the beach also has a large free space for those who want to get away from worldliness a little. Flies, wasps, butterflies and many other insects live in the Mediterranean scrub behind the beach; a few small tricks will be enough to live peacefully with them, such as not eating on the beach. Lunch time is anyway the ideal time to visit the suggestive Lake of Melissani, which around 12.30 - 13.30 reveals its colors in all their splendor. After a visit to the lake and a refreshing swim in one of the many coves along the road that heads north from Sami, a stop in the small port of Agia Efimia will allow you to fully breathe the relaxed atmosphere of a small fishing village. not overwhelmed by mass tourism.
• DAY 3: If you have read some articles about Kefalonia to prepare your trip, you have certainly heard of the most famous beach of the island, the imposing Myrtos. Dazzling white pebbles, turquoise water and an imposing rock face behind it covered in greenery and inhabited by numerous goats. If the beach is undoubtedly grandiose from a landscape point of view, it is a little less pleasant to live due to its high temperatures and often choppy waters. After a few hours of sunshine, perhaps it is better to take refuge in one of the excellent traditional taverns of Divarata or in the Myrtillo café for an exquisite Greek yogurt with honey and many other local specialties. Assos is only about twenty minutes away; the picturesque village is built on a strait of land visible from the vantage point above Myrtos. Colorful houses, flowering plants and a sheltered bay make it a little gem to be enjoyed at least for the time of a coffee.
• DAY 4: ivory-colored pebbles, deep blue waters and glades of a thousand shades of green, but also bright purple bougainvillea, golden icons and houses in bright pastel colors. Ionian Greece is an explosion of colors and Fiskardo, north of Kefalonia, is one of its most beautiful villages. In recent years, the village has become the most glamorous spot on the island, frequented by yachts and guests looking for clubs, boutiques and exclusive facilities. However, the north of the island is also perfect for those looking for a timeless atmosphere, with incredible beaches surrounded by dense vegetation and small villages with stone houses. All the bays in the area have a unique personality but if the tight deadlines force us to a ruthless selection we will probably choose Alaties, the "salata". Surrounded by natural pools among the rocks where salt was once collected, from the beach you will see the most beautiful sunset in the north of Kefalonia.
• DAY 5: After a short walk along the Argostoli seafront to see the peaceful Caretta Caretta turtles swimming among the fishing boats we embark for Lixouri. The crossing is frequent and takes only about twenty minutes. A swim at the red beach of Xi Beach and an iced coffee at the Vatsa tavern and off to the north, destination Porto Atheras. The beach is of gray sand, sheltered and quiet, with shallow waters ideal for children and snorkeling. There is no equipped beach but a few meters from the sea there is an excellent tavern where you can spend the hottest hours. The sunset in the Paliki must be seen from the Petani beach, a short distance away. The day ends with an aperitif or fresh fish enjoyed directly on the beach.
• DAY 6: Fteri is the best known of the beaches near Zola that cannot be reached by road, but perhaps it is not the most spectacular. Kamari and Xarakas are our favorites, not to mention the amazing Gianniskaris cave! Are you ready to seek your personal natural paradise among pristine bays and waters so blue that they seem unreal? You can reach the beaches by taxi boat or organized group or private tours. If you want to stay in the area and enjoy services and comforts do not miss Agia Kiriaki and Vouti, with taverns and equipped beaches.
• DAY 7: The beaches on the southwest coast of Kefalonia are mostly of golden sand, with agave plants and Mediterranean scrub. Between Argostoli and Lourdata the options are truly endless both for those who want beaches equipped with music and deluxe sunbeds, and for those looking for bays with wild charm. Not being able to visit them all on this seventh day, we propose the ones that we think really have everything, Avithos and Kalamia: both are splendid from a landscape point of view, equipped but not too chaotic, with good music and the perfect atmosphere for your last suggestive sunset on the island.
