Obviously we're joking, Kefalonian goats don't have 24-carat teeth and they haven't found a secret gold mine in which to make expensive snacks, but their teeth are really golden due to the minerals present in the soil of the Pylaros area and the plants which they feed on (for example Nevrida, Polygonum Ideaum Hay, fluorescent at night). Also in other areas of Greece, such as in the Psiloritis area in Crete, a similar phenomenon has been observed. Like any beauty treatment, the one to which Kefalonian goats undergo also requires time and patience. Goats (but also sheep, hares and wild horses in the area) are born with white teeth. Only with time and numerous grazes the teeth do turn yellow and become golden.
